No Escape From Parenting When Sick
If you’re sick and a mom, you know the show must go on. (One of my favorite tunes.) In fact, I swear kids all of a sudden need more attention from you than they did when you felt fine. Sort of like when you’re on the phone, they go nuts. Mention you’re sick and that may trigger abandonment fears.
Even my eldest is still weird that way. If I state I would like some quiet time, there is always some minor incident turned into a major noisy catastrophe. Someone needs socks, someone lost their red crayon and another wants a dollar for something urgent.
It’s nothing major, just some strange sleepy stomachache sickness but enough to throw me off and slow me down a bit.
Even before I felt sick, I was working on delegating out more chores to the children. What do you think about 12 year olds making their own lunch? I think I did it too long and mentioned to my daughter that she was old enough to make her own.
She took it the wrong way, got her feelings hurt, and informed me every other mother on the planet makes their kid’s lunch. The next day she did manage to make it.
Tuna Casserole
Someone is going to ask me soon if I have any ideas for supper. I don’t know why but that question gets on my nerves. Today even more so because I’m still somewhat nauseous. I really should display a menu a week at a time that they can refer to on the fridge.
- Today I’m turning to tuna and the standard casserole. It’s basically macaroni and cheese with tuna and peas. This Tuna Stroganoff recipe sounds good and I like the idea of serving it on rice so might switch it up.
